I’m a sucker for fun photos with costumes. As such, while presenting at Social Media Camp in Victoria in 2016, I availed myself of the promotional photo booth and dug into the provided tickle trunk, plus added a few items I had on hand, to create this series of photos to craft characters and story.
Presented individually, then as they appeared in strips for the record (in case you want to print and trade with your friends).
Free haiku and paintings on variety of paper. Made in Tottori, Japan, 1993/4. Read publicly at my older brother’s wedding in Okizaki, Japan.
I’d recently rambled Europe and feasted on Van Gogh and Mattisse and combining their bold lines and bright colours with the efficiency and conciseness of Japanese aesthetic, these emerged.
Produced into a very limited run series (maybe 30?) of chapbooks printed on hemp + cereal straw paper and sewn (top binding) with hemp thread in Guam in 1995/6 and mailed to friends. I don’t have one of these bound copies, only the delicate originals in a file.
Anecdotes and inspiration from working and hitchhiking in Japan including visiting hot springs, working in an enoki mushroom farm, meeting interesting folks proud of their town and hobbies. Plus exploring Japanese culture in Guam, Palau and Yap.
Whilst tidying, archiving notes and artifacts used in “Fck Stats, Make Art” talk presented at SXSWi 2009. Other round-up also available. These are the bits leftover yet worthy indeed. Mostly items remixed and created by others from the aforementioned spiel.
Whilst tidying, I gathered up snaps of the materials in my suitcase plus various archiving notes and artifacts used in “Are you Worthy? – Publishing from Greeks to Geeks” talk presented at Wordcamp Whistler, January 2000.
Canada’s Governor General Michaëlle Jean (a Haitian refuge who immigrated to Quebec as a child) and Mayor Sam Sullivan (suddenly, the world’s second most famous quadriplegic) were on hand with a phalanx of officers of everykind to reveal the 1952 Oslo Winter Olympic flag.
