Making an A3 sized, 8 page (including covers) zine – or is it a chapbook or a marginalia or dispatch or…? Anyhow, loosely documenting the whole process from folding the base to ideation to construction to printing, folding, cutting and finishing touches, oh and choosing just the right washi paper and dealing with the bleeds and edges when scanning & printing
In this case, contents include: poetry, musing, sketches, scenes, lists and a coupla snaps from trip to Misasa Onsen in Tottori, Japan for a touji medical stay – includes some inky stamps and binding tape, fingerprint and other treats
Did i mention the sweet newly-repaired, high-carbon Japanese kitchen knife used to cut the delightfully tactile paper? (i also cut with a ¥100 crappy cutter knife to ya know, keep it real-ish :)
Bits of ukulele and ambient background music, some narrative text in some parts, and some chit-chat towards the end as i meander about what to do with the creation since i love sending things out into the world and wanna make 1000 copies and mail to everyone but i sorta cannot right now for various reasons
Anyhow, i am making some and mailing out a few to start the flow, i hope one is for you since you read all this and watched the whoooole hangout from my historic kura storehouse studio in a pleasant provincial corner of Japan
