Post’d: postcard fronts, April 2014, vol. 3

Post’d: postcard fronts, April 2014, various

While i love sending postcards, i also love the postcards themselves – each has its own artist story behind and all of that. Yet postcards spending their infinity in a shoebox without fulfilling their destiny is rather sad. As such, i compromise by snapping a quick shot of the front before dropping into the time/space portal wormhole to intended (and thrilled no doubt) recipient.

This batch was scribbled upon in April 2014 in Logan, Utah and my (now late) Mom’s house. 3rd in a series for archival purposes, as well as ephemeral amusement.

Post'd: art postcards, handmade
Post’d: art postcards, handmade – Gravelly Beach

These postcards are made from printed photos of my original art pieces, glued to heavy-gauge watercolour paper and then mailed off to elsewhere. Photographed before depositing into postbox. This is all.

Post’d: envelope backs – basic manila with inky stamps

Post’d: envelope backs – basic manila with inky stamps

To remind and inspire myself, i often photograph envelopes before they embark on their journey. The fronts contain folks’ personal address (which i shoot to keep a record i never actually look back upon to recall who i’ve mailed) so i shan’t share that bit, but i will gallery up the backs – really for no purpose, just for amusement and artsy funtimes.

This batch are under-stated (made in Penang, Malaysia to transport watercolour pictograms) hearty manila card-sized and adorned with new-that-day inky stamps proclaiming various instructions or attributes, along with my distinctive seal of approval.

This batch all have envelopes made from re/upcycled maps. The paper is robust and colourful and well-suited for the purpose. Well, truth is, one simply has a sticker map of Hokkaido, but a maps a map so here we are.

This batch, well… are just as-is, a few of this and that. No theme, just ya know, envelopes which have subsequently made a long, likely arduous journey to a recipient and i feel that act alone is noble and should be commemorated, as such… here they are.
