Leo Laporte gets a special envelope Live at SXSW in Austin

While on the streets of Austin, I came across tech pundit Leo Laporte (known for Tech TV, Lab with Leo, This Week in Tech, etc.). I appeared on Leo’s Lab show a few years back discussing analog culture in the digital age. This time, i offered him an envelope of HootSuite goodness to his delight. My pals John Biehler and Jason Sanders captured the interaction as Leo was fresh from crowd surfing at the Diggnation party and visiting with Mashable’s Pete Cashmore and some chick mostly from Vancouver.

Jason snapped the real time photo and John captured the screen of the streaming show later showing Leo and the audience’s point of view. Alas my witticisms were snipped from the archived version in favour of other wandering geeks but believe when i tell ya it was a beauty ;-).

Vancouver Polar Bear Swim at English Bay, 2009

On New Year’s Day 2009, I stroll along Vancouver’s Seawall towards English Beach to witness the annual Polar Bear swim with thousands of colourful Vancouver-ites gathering at English Bay, in costumes from clowns to bikinis, to start the New Year with a plunge into the frigid Pacific beginning with a a mass start from the snowy beach at 2:30pm on January 1st, 2009.
Once arrived to the festivities, i observe swimmers going in for a quick dip but also a few die-hards — including a Viking helmet clad yeoman — competing to be the heartiest participant.

Shot with a fish-eye style lens for a unique perceptive of the whole beach and ocean.

Waiting for the Bus Again: Commute 4

A bus ride and stroll from a North Vancouver bus stop in front of a pet shop to downtown Vancouver’s rather seedy Main and Hastings and then into tourist-laden Gastown to 1 Alexander with comments on urban transition and the Nokia N95 phone.

The Castro will be Televised…

Of course, I wasn’t the only one documenting the chaos in the Castro.  Here’s a video from “The Revolution Will Be Televised” blog.  Nice stuff by a young filmaker in SF named Josh Wolf who (as you might expect) has a Feedburner feed and is listed in iTunes
