In advance of the Vancouver / Whistler 2010 Winter Olympics, various ceremonies to do ceremonies were wrangled around the city, this event on March 9, 2006 featured Canada’s Governor General Michaëlle Jean (a Haitian refuge who immigrated to Quebec as a child) and Mayor Sam Sullivan (notably an active quadrapelegic and historian) were on hand with a phalanx of officers of every kind to reveal the 1952 Oslo Winter Olympic flag with usual remarks (which was captured in an Olympic Outsider podcast) and offer sundry remarks, niceties and prepared comments whilst formally receiving the flag from previous hot Turin/Torino, Italy.
Update: the flag was stolen and remains so as of this memo (2024) as i understand it
