The Whistler Sliding Centre is the location for bobsled, luge and skeleton competitions for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The venue is located approximately 76 miles north of Vancouver.
Construction of the Whistler Sliding Center began in June 2005 and was completed in December 2007. The facilities include a concrete refrigerated track, start houses, a control and timing building, finish area building , track operations building, track lodge, refrigeration plant and a mountain and track access road system.
The bobsled and skeleton track measures 1,450 meters in length. Men’s luge will run at 1,374 meters while doubles and women’s luge is 1,198 meters in length. The track includes a vertical drop of 152 meters with a maximum slope of 20% at corner 2.
