met this awesome dude, a bass player from Hiroshima, at a gig here in Okayama some months back (april 25, 2025)
talked for a little bit about his session work in LA and collection of cowboy boots and hats
his nickname is “Jaco” which I assumed was named legendary freeform improvisational jazz bass player but somehow it’s connected to a hockey player. Now I know my ice hockey lore but this slips my mind, anyhow
I sent new year card & photo – because of course we exchanged cards… Wasn’t sure he’d even remember me, then today a reply (in a cute envelope with letter written on sheet music paper no less) arrived
