Spontaneous riffs about trip to Expo 2025 in Osaka (yes, they still do those world expos) with all the sensory inputs, vague themes, various robots, often overwrought concepts, and impressive wooden ring (soon to be a casino? ugh) – coupled with a visit to the stellar Osaka Expo 1970 parks and gardens with the psychedelic tower of the sun by Okamoto Taro, a Ferris wheel, and the breeze blowing tree blossoms every which way
All this in one breath in the new “caboose” house addition between cutting hemp on 4/20 to make curtains and drawer liners for removable “kaidandansu” staircase, after recalling sitting as a model for a drawing class of a W. Churchhill-inspired artist association with a big hat with a peacock feather and a snappy suit
There is a minor rant about the Canadian pavilion’s confusing storytelling while adding to the “digital zombie” aesthetic of the Expo at large with oddly-handled tablets to evidentially enhance viewing of plastic icebergs set in a rather gloomy black tradeshow tent – coupled with me voting in the upcoming Canadian election by mail with an arts and crafts flourish

Of course intros to friends met along the way including: brother Andrew (currently New Orleans ported) and girlfriend Sasi from Thailand, Pacific Northwest music and Japan castle enthusiast Matthew W (not to be confused with M.Ward the musician maybe currently still in Japan playing to lackluster reviews), and Eric Flexyerhead, former CITR music curator and coffee aficionado (as well as noted punk rock bass player from wayback in the ye olden 1980s days)

With the usual assortment of photos of Ryoko, Ichiro, postboxes, Mac the goat shepherd and magical daughter and mother, with the rest of us under a tree for a tea ceremony at the farm as we celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary and other significant 4-20 events
Oh right, there’s more mediocre ukulele playing, discussions of mental health, hospital visits, more tea ceremonies, digressions about Yuzu, shiitake, charcoal, earthen walls, work parties, a cameo of my new (small strong and beautiful just like my wifu) Remington Junior typewriter, and more figuring aloud about leaving the year of the dragon behind with all the topsy-turviness and have some fun rambling around and changing patterns in this year of the snake
So we go on

a few snaps, more eventually… along with an essay because i like to be complicated and whatever the opposite of concise is
