Round-up: Whitecaps and Southsiders, vol. 2 (snaps & captures)

at this time, Jamaica featured Jamaican striker Darren Mattocks and i had a game-worn shirt signed by keeper Simon Thomas (who might enjoy the dozens of countries his kit has travelled)

I used to go watch some Whitecaps FC games at BC Place in Vancouver, mostly with my brother Dan who was an active member of the Southsiders supporters club and wrapped first row tickets behind the net. As a result, we were right in the thick of it for various newspaper and TV appearances, which sometimes I managed to grab a hold of and other times, folks, snapped pictures of their TV sets or screen captures, and sent along with notes.

There is also Media: Mattocks + Jamaican Flag #Whitecaps, July 2012 with more media funtimes + maybe me with Cascadia Cup, somewhere…?

It’s all just kind of fun times, archive for the usual archiving purposes. Can you find me? And which is your favourite outfit?

my pal Marie Hui is the anthem singer (and also sometimes for Vancouver Canucks and Seattle Seahawks as well as her band) and in this case, she came to sing with Dan and i (and she commented on Dan’s unique and compelling harmonies) and others were there too i guess
what a sweet gesture from a friend. i heart you too, mucho
Dan with the flag, my neighbour with the sign and me with the rock hands (and a Darren Mattocks signed “arbutus brown” kit)
a screencap from a friend watching on their robot, me with my tam o’shanter hat as the team feartured a variety of Scots players and manager at the time
gosh, another teevee shot getting me right in the vibes, yowza full on
rocking the Scots theme outfit again with the jacket and tam o’ shanter, caught in a subdued moment of the action

Bonus: irrelevant but kinda hilarious: but this Whitecaps article in Vancouver’s The Province newspaper/site a few weeks back features photo with tiny me in front row from pre-2013 #recycling (where’s daveo?)

this shot has become “default stock photo” for a Canadian syndicated news conglomerate and pops up on the regular, i seem unamused (assuming you can find me)

Whitecaps pack their bags for a 27,000 kilometre journey
The Vancouver Whitecaps seven-game road trip is the longest consecutive stretch of games played away in team history.
