Rare hang out out in the kura barn (while wife’s band rehearses inside so a bit too much commotion for me) So instead, I’m putting away books and *trying to* tidy up stacks of scrapbook materials, ephemera, maps, passports, other treats / so much goodness! But first need space on the…

Post, received: Nengajyo lucky numbers + 3 cards

I took down Christmas and New York cards, for the most part, from the “string of honor” (which you know also doubles as a high gauge speaker wire) and realized we hadn’t checked the “lucky numbers” which come included on the Japan Post manufactured (and customizable) new year cards and/or on the specific stamps celebrating the particular lunar year (in this case of course, dragon).

So we looked through the stack of received cards and found that we had three winners! so… I get to take to the post office to claim the well-won postage stamps. No trip to Hawaii but that’s totally fine, in fact this is very meta: stamps beget stamps.

We received so many wonderful cards – both international and domestic – which, I mean to make another one of my meandering, poorly/lit and rarely-viewed videos of putting the cards in folios to show you that I care (really, it’s just because I love the whole process of documenting these treasures), yet, in the meanwhile these three cards keep surfacing to the top:

One by Okayama pop artist Noriko Miyake and her hand-drawn/painted “goddess” art

One by Okayama modern traditional Shodo calligraphy artist Yoshiko Yoshida on exquisite paper stock

One from our friends Ed and Naomi in Nozawa onsen with a change of address (as they keep switching houses ;)) and a charming bit of art

Of course, yours is also awesome but just these three happen to be on the table waiting for their moment.

Would you like to send us a postcard? Just copy this address as above (written by Noriko Miyake) // all details also at “postal and contact“.

Exhibit: Noriko Miyake’s goddess art

the phallus points the way…

Catching up on my/our miraculous life, yonder back in December 2021 amidst preparation for Christmas and a few of their ongoing projects, we went to see an exhibit of one of our favourite artists, Noriko Miyake who is just about to head out for creative sojourn in Paris.

3 shining stars

We have a couple of her paintings [see: Diary: New Goddess Art from Miyake Noriko, Diary: Get on the Omnibus (annotations from the fog)] and have flowed a couple out to the world as gifts as well, she’s always doing something interesting, often involving p3nis and vag!nas and related whatnot (pardons keeping this post safe for search).

The exhibit was in a great coffee shop in which was on board with placemats, menus, table flags and other treats to make the exhibit completely immersive. There was even art hanging in the toilet (yup, we purchased one, a wild collage) and in the hallways (yup bought one from there as well, a sort of jellyfish kite).

Then, you climb a very steep dangerous staircase (watch your head! gonk!) and head into a room FILLED with painted, stuffed and sewn vulvas, yup! Cozy up and lounge in the splendor. We all enjoyed and have one at home now.

Winderness Hotspring painting by Noriko Miyake

Lots on my mind to riff about sometime about with various dangling topics & conversations unfinished and yet the days go by so quick, ergo:

* libraries (lost in Showa)

* meeting Ed Abbey (for Heads Lifestyle)

* my next postbox paintings/poems

* Ryoko’s new Fluevog shoes(!) /

below (note: Vancouver company but these came from the Amsterdam store in the magnificent box with extra treats. She will look so great in these, and hopefully can wear in her next concert sometime this autumn if things well, get safer.) + I kept an eye on the sale section and special sale days to find just the right pair at well, a good price and this was my third attempt

* Dennis Kearns & Quinn Hughes &
* Canucks family cook book circa 1981 (contents thereof)

* paintings by Noriko Miyake (She’s local to our area but spends a lot of time in France making her vag!na goddess art. We have 2.5 of her pieces. Purchased this “wild hot spring” as a surprise “momma’s gift” for Ryoko Olson) & Jean Smith (she’s rocking it so well right now)

* reducing humidity for book and record archiving in kura barn

* Fast Times (film & soundtrack etc)

* Itami’s “The Funeral” film

* scheme for house modifications/extension (safety & efficiency)

* so many letters out in the post, absolutely fantastic custom and complicated… And time-consuming(!) but so worth it

* Ichi-Stan’s CDN paperwork / checkmark #io

* The Queen never getting to know the pleasure of making a perfect grilled cheese sandwich

* further annotations re: hemp in Japan (state of & unpublished artifacts)

* recap #daveo50 / 190+ posts project

* wild boar sausages & inflatable pool (+ impending typhoon)

* how i ended up in Japan this time around

* how are you?

* condolences for losses (i see you)

* yes *the illness* persists #chronic #complex yet research drastically increasing (note: One strange /good thing is with *the virus*, there’s suddenly a lot more attention and awareness and research going into CFS/ME vis a vis so-called “long haulers” / Would be so wonderful to see so many people get so much of their lives back #MillionsMissing)

* “Hollywood” Scurlock (for Dark Poutine Mike Browne) #weird

* etc

* full email box #trying

* autumn is best season in Japan

* questions??

> in the meantime…

Note: The reality is, I wrote this as a little bit of “stuff I’m thinking about but I can’t do anything about right now“ list when I was in a crash mode from my silly consortium of syndromes.

(When I “crash“ I can only be in bed with the lights off, audio playing but not video, no outside light or noise,… but my head is swimming with ideas of stuff I really really want to do but can’t. In this case, three days of almost complete an activity aside from bathtime with baby.)

Dictating out a “laundry list” of thoughts, helps the brain calm down and well, means I’ll maybe address the topics eventually… maybe.

“Champey” Fluevogs for Ryoko (bit of another Noriko Miyake painting)

Thank you for your perceived interest and erstwhile support.

Diary: New Goddess Art from Miyake Noriko

New art by Noriko Miyake (FB)! Such powerful goodness for welcoming the new human…

And we made a fun lil video of opening up the package (we asked Noriko to choose the painting for us based on our current life situation so we could enjoy the surprise!).

(By the way, another check in yesterday and everything is going great! We even have some wild 3-D scan videos).

The painting (laden with maternal themes and imagery) also came with a cloth vagina of sorts and a sweet note in english and Japanese (as well as special wrapping paper!)
