out of tune with world, yet sending sparks, backyard fire storytime: Appropriately out of tune both with the world and ukulele strings, outside in Ryoko’s Permaculture land, Ichiro tending to fire, me trying to think of ways to balance tumult of the world and discomfort with so many channels while I still have simple things to say about holidays eating geographically aligned sushi rolls and throwing beans to thwart demons, buying suitcases and finding cafés with ashtrays, aquariums and broken electric Mahjong machines, young gentleman with a beautiful florist shop selling buds of peaches and plums and the joy of a sandwich with someone I love… Yet I think of all those struggling…
And then one of the dozens of worldwide conundrums ™, somehow collided into my orbit causing pangs of grief knowing something I once lovingly crafted as well, suddenly very complicated and I’m not quite sure that I have a place aside from effectuating positive change in my community & tending to my remarkable family
Oh, and I took a poetry chap book to an old school meets new school printer, near a place serving Oden stew and a shop with elder folks delicately arranging generational dolls, a poetry book, two sided, eight panel, handcrafted, full color offset and monochrome… Eventually maybe you’ll have a chance to get one of 50. Yet…
Wondering how any of my humble endeavors matters while the world burns, but heck, I’m 55, I’ve seen all of this before after all, right?
gratitude for pals: So taking solace in finding joy in success of friends like @sonsofvancouver & @van_ai ; gratitude for correspondence with Byzantium, Acorn Cottage, Rogerio; thrilled by musical collaborations with @winterkeep; and fun in picking up the phone and talking rock ‘n’ roll with the Woodduck, tracking down Lazy to tell him I made a ‘song’/ soundscape from his words, Trauben pushing away shyness to share his licks with islanders, proud of Ryoko and her bandmates for putting out fun songs @maemaes9227
oh and sharing annotations about Japan life by pointing my friends to deep rooted locals like @tokyorecordstyle, @ThePaprikaGirl, @seeksustainablejapan , @hiddenpaths-walkinghistori588 hoping everyone can have a special time on their visits
ugh, another election tomorrow in Japan, this one hitting a little bit sharper than others but as the hockey player say “control the controls”, speaking of that, Olympics is starting and Japan women’s team are already underway but I don’t talk about that though I’m interested yet have hospital visits, preschool activities, in law visits and what not filling up the calendar
in other words I spend time by a fire saying I don’t quite know how to say the things I wanna say so I say these things I’ll find a way to say more things and maybe even a snapshot or a scrapbook because you know I’m always making a scrapbook even if that scrapbook is a song or a snapshot or a Shodo calligraphy of an ancient incantations
Yet no grand statements of perseverance nor solace – I’m nervous for me, anxious for the world, keeping the blues at bay by just talking to you, because it’s only you out there right? you and me against the world… No no no I mean you and me are the world, no not that, you and me are part of the world
